Watermelon Lime Mocktail Recipe

With only four simple ingredients this watermelon lime mocktail is sure to keep you happy and hydrated all summer long. I don’t drink much alcohol but I still love to have a cold and refreshing beverage, especially in the summer time. This mocktail takes the place of a cocktail and would be perfect for a fourth of July celbration.

Summer in the south is HOT and it is so important to stay hydrated, especially when you are outside. This watermelon lime mocktail is the perfect addition to a day spent outdoors or a summer picnic. It’s refreshing and because of all the minerals in the watermelon and coconut water, super hydrating. For this recipe, I have tried both red and yellow watermelon and both work great. The red is a little sweeter and has that classic summer taste while the yellow has a very refreshing flavor.

Watermelon Benefits

Watermelon has lots of nutrients that help you to stay hydrated. It is full of potassium an electrolyte that is key in making sure your cells get enough water and fluid balance. When you are dehydrated it is crucial to include a potassium source in whatever you are drinking. Watermelon also contains vitamin A, vitamin C, and lots of antioxidants. Lycopene the antioxidant responsible for the color of pink watermelons is beneficial for oxidative stress prevention.

Coconut Water Benefits

Coconut water is rich in minerals just like watermelon. It is also high in potassium containing more than a banana and rich in magnesium and antioxidants. the combination of watermelon and coconut water gives your body a huge boost of electrolytes and minerals helping to quench thirst and keep your cells hydrated.

Watermelon Lime Mocktail Ingredients

You will only need a few simple ingredients for this watermelon lime mocktail. Start with watermelon, coconut water, lime juice, salt, and mint leaves if you desire. I would stick to making this drink in the summer months only so that you can get a fresh watermelon with lots of flavor. The ratios really are up to you and your taste preference but I like to fill the cup almost to the top with watermelon chunks, then smash them down to get all the juice out. I don’t typically measure but just pour the coconut water over top along with the juice from half a lime. Then sprinkle with salt and enjoy.
