10 + Healthy Summer Recipes

If you are trying to eat healthy and haven’t tried eating seasonally yet, it could be the next step in your journey. For me, it was hard to stop eating strawberries in the winter but the benefits of seasonal eating really outweigh the negatives. Fruits and vegetables are more nutritious during peak season especially if they are grown locally. For example, organic strawberries grown on a local farm don’t have to travel across the country to make it to your table so then they are able to ripen more on the vine and naturally in the sun, yielding a more nutrient dense and tasty fruit. Summer is my favorite time to enjoy seasonal eating. The fresh, ripe fruits are amazing and you can make so many great recipes.

Summer Produce

In my area of the country we can get lots of different fruits during the summer months. A few of my favorites are peaches, strawberries, blueberries and watermelon. For vegetables we grow lots of corn, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. Some other fruits and vegetables that are in season in other parts of the country are mangos, avocados and kiwis.
