Bone Broth Hot Chocolate

This recipe is adapted from Fallon’s Table, the creator of the original bone broth recipe.

Bone broth has been used for many years and has great healing properties. It has been used to help cure digestive issues, support joints, and for its anti-aging properties. When made with high-quality ingredients and properly it can have a high nutrient content, providing vitamins, minerals, and collagen. Collagen is beneficial and needed by the body. It is a component of healthy skin, bones, muscles, and joints, keeping them in place and helping them to work properly.

 
 

Recipe Notes

As always, sourcing organic ingredients is important to ensure that you and your family aren’t consuming harmful chemicals but I know some of the ingredients listed in this recipe are hard to come by in organic form. Grass-fed, pasture-raised is important too though, when it comes to dairy it might even be more important. It ensures that the cows or goats are grazing and eating off the land and receiving nutrients from the land instead of from feed, leading to higher nutrient content in the milk.

For this recipe, I prefer raw milk. From a trusted source, it is highly nutrient-dense and contains the enzymes needed for digestion. I also prefer beef bone broth, I’ve tried chicken bone broth and it was not as good! The beef and chocolate complement each other well. A great clean brand to try for beef bone broth is kettle and fire. For cacao powder and coconut oil I love Wildly Organics.

Bone Broth Hot Chocolate

This hot chocolate is a nourishing, tasty treat.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup grass fed beef bone broth
  • 3/4 cup full fat grass fed milk
  • 2 tablespoons organic cacao powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon organic maple syrup
  • dash of salt, optional
  • 1/8 teaspoon coconut oil, optional

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan over medium heat.
  2. Heat for 3-5 minutes, whisking often.
  3. Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream if desired.
  4. Enjoy!
